The author of this of this article chose adults in Europe, that have at least a general idea on whats going on in Syria for his audience. I think he intended to do this because if the topic of the article, which is about attack that are happening in Syria and also that its on the BBC website. The purpose of this article is to inform the general public on what's happening in Syria, on the Syria army is launching an attack on the North-Western Province. Next the claim of the article is to show how bad Syria is turning out to be. And also on, how Europe is acting to to the conflict in Syria. It shows that the article seaports the claims by listing the number of new sanctions that the European Union is listing a new sanctions. Then it describes on how how the Syrian army is attacking people from cities.
The article connects to the book because of the attacking on the people. In the book the Serbs are attacking the Muslim cities. But in this book it is mainly about the Safe Area Gorazde. Like that, in the article the Syrian Army is attacking the Norther Town in Idlib of Syria. Which was very similar to what happened in Syria.

English Blog 2: Letter
Dear Joe,
Hey Joe how's Gorazde doing? Being on the front line is really sucky. It's so cold out and snowy. Every night I can't sleep. I'm so nervous that one night the Serbs are going to charge us or send artillery down on use. Can you tell my family that I love them.

English Blog 1: Stages of Genocide
In the first 56 pages of Safe Area Gorazde, the stage of genocide shown is classification. Classification is when a group of people judges another group of people based on there skin color, religion, or ethnicity. Two examples of classification in the book is when Edin's friend cut off all communication to Edin because he is Muslim. The thing that Edin's friend says is, "You can't expect good relations between us in the near future. You will try to kill all the Serbs in Bosnia and make a Muslim country" (Sacco, 2001, p. 41). Then another example of the book is showing classification is when it says and shows, neighbors not saying hi to each other during the day.
